Groom Creek Cottage:
Our client found this once beautiful cottage nestled in the pines of Groom Creek. RENOVATIONS was interviewed and hired to help the rescue and restoration effort.
The cottage had not been lived in for several years and was considerably run down. This photo essay will present the various states of restoring this neglected building to its rightful glory.
This first photo shows the cottage raised off the ground for us to put in foundation. The original structure had wood in contact with the ground and the floor system was severely damaged. Full replacement would be required.

These photos show the new concrete block foundation walls with the cottage structure resettled back on for good this time. This new foundation is our starting point.

Once the cottage framing was reinforced, and a new roof installed, we wrap the entire structure in a moisture and air barrier, to insure a well protected and energy efficient home. We pay special attention to the window openings. They are double wrapped and sealed to eliminate infiltration. A small amount of outside air, necessary for a healthy building, can be introduced through the heating and cooling system. When good weather affords the opportunity one of the many operable windows can be opened to get plenty of fresh air.
